Free Post-it Durable Tabs, Storage Container Labels, Sticky Notes samples.

I'm a bit of a Post-it hoarder, I admit, and back-to-school is a particularly tough time for me because all the shiny new school supplies are on such great sales. But you know what's even better? Free Post-its!

Get your free sample of Post-it durable tabs and storage container labels when you fill out the form.

Oh, and here's another one for Super Sticky Notes.

1,000 free pens a day from Bic Easy Glide.

Now there's a freebie guaranteed to win my heart! 1,000 free pens a day through September 9, courtesy of Bic Easy Glide. I don't know when the official "day" resets (possibly 12:01 a.m. EDT?), but check back at various times and see when the form becomes available again, and let us know if you have success!

Free Post-it Super Sticky Notes.

Among certain coworkers, I'm notorious for my Post-it hoarding tendencies. What can I say - they come in so many fun shapes and sizes, and there are those colorful little flags, and sometimes even highlighter pens with the flags stowed inside... it's just so exciting!

Share the thrills when you submit your request for some free Post-it Super Sticky Notes samples. I'm sort of suspicious that they'll just rip five sheets off a pad and stuff it in an envelope, but I guess free Post-its are free Post-its.

Office Max: 100% store credit rebate when you buy up to 2 backpacks.

Now Office Max is jumping on the excessively-complicated-backpack-rebate bandwagon, too - and you can do the offer for up to 2 backpacks, if you want to make it even harder on yourself. No gift cards for this one, though - you have to already be enrolled in their MaxPerks rewards program.
  1. Purchase up to 2 backpacks and earn the purchase price back in Bonus Rewards (to be spent at Office Max).
  2. Rewards earned for the backpack offer will available in a member’s account in September; Bonus Reward for MaxPerks Rewards for Teachers members will be available in October.
  3. All other Bonus Rewards will be available in a member’s next statement. MaxPerks enrollment required.

Offer is good through July 31, if you're willing to put the work in on this one.

Staples: 100% gift card rebate w/backpack purchase, 7/25-7/31.

I'm sort of torn about this Staples rebate offer. On one hand, it sounds pretty great - buy any backpack and get a 100% rebate! BUT there are some important caveats:
  1. You get the "rebate" as a Staples gift card, not as cash or a prepaid debit card usable anywhere;
  2. Their backpacks are a LOT more expensive than elsewhere.

For example, the classic Jansport Superbreak in black is $49.99 at Staples, but only $24 (with free shipping) at Amazon and $29.99 at eBags. If you go through a lot of office supplies, maybe it's worth it to pay twice as much if you'll eventually get it back in merchandise. But if you just want a good price on a backpack, I'm not sure if this is the offer for you.

Sanford Mr. Sketch Washable Watercolor Markers, free w/rebate.

Remember those scented Mr. Sketch markers from when we were kids? I was never allowed to have any, but I loooooved playing with them at school and we all fought over who got the best scents/colors. Anyway, you can get a set of 12 for free from Office Depot with a mail-in rebate. I guess you're paying sales tax, but that's worth it, right?
  1. Buy markers in-store or online from Office Depot for $7.99 between 7/11/10 - 7/17/10.
  2. Mail in the order form before 8/7/10.
  3. You'll receive a prepaid Visa rebate card for $7.99 in the mail.
  4. Once you've used it for whatever, recycle that plastic card via Earthworks!
My nine-year-old self would be soooo envious right now.

Free Spa Translations pocket notebook.

The confusingly-named Spa Translations is offering you a free pocket notebook. I have a similar one myself and I really like it - the pen goes through the loops on the edge, keeping it shut, and the hard case gives you a surface to write on anywhere. This one looks like it has post-it flags and sticky notes inside, which is even better.

Looks like you'll be signing up for a world of junk mail and translation offers, though, so choose your email address accordingly.

UK freebie! Send in your used-up Bic pen, get $10. (I can't find the pound symbol on my computer.)

I doubt that anyone actually reading this blog will be able to take advantage of this promotion, but I'm just so proud of myself (or "chuffed," as the Brits say) at finding an international freebie that I had to post it anyway. I do know some peeps in the UK, so maybe if you do too, you can pass the word along.

You know how those cheapie Bic plastic pens seem to last friggin' forever? If you can manage to kill one (try creating a reproduction of a Vermeer masterpiece), mail in the empty pen corpse and they will send you a cheque (hee!) for ten pounds. Then you can put it in your chequing account.

Britons... they're just like us!

Walgreens: Buy Frixion pens, make $4.

This one is a little elaborate, but if you like Frixion erasable pens (my editing classmates really loved them for hard-copy markup), here's a way to not only get them free, but get paid $4 to buy them.
  • Buy 3 packages of Pilot FriXion pens at $1.19 each. Use $1/1 coupon found in Walgreen’s April Coupon Book (found near store entrance).
  • Pay around $.60 out of pocket.
  • Send in the rebate found on the pen packages. It says you’ll get a $4.50 rebate.
  • Make $3.90!

Rebates aren't exactly instant gratification, but if you have the patience to fill them out thoroughly and wait for the check, it's fun to get free money in the mail. This one seems like a good deal, although I hear the pens have been flying off the shelves, so you may have to hit a Walgreens or two in order to find them.

(Thanks, HeyItsFree!)

Six Pounds of Pens is back!

I haven't actually taken them up on this offer (I have a fearsome pen hoard of my own to work through, plus a compulsive hotel-pen-stealing habit), but I do love fantasizing about this Six Pounds of Pens offer from GraveyardMall. It's a grab bag of misprints and overruns from promotional printing orders, but you know those pens are usually pretty fancy because they WANT you to keep them around and use them for months.

You'll get over 300 pens for $14, which is about 4 cents per pen and most likely a lifetime supply. Buy it for your favorite office-supply addict and watch their eyes light up!

Free Dove thank-you cards.

Blame it on Free Chocolate Friday: when I heard about these free Dove thank-you cards, I first thought of Dove chocolate, and was like, "Awesome! Are the cards made out of chocolate? Do they have little Dove Promises attached, like when you used to get valentines in grade school?"

Alas, this freebie is nothing like that. It's Dove the soap company, and soap is definitely not something you want to shove in your mouth straight from the mailbox. Still, you can get a set of 6 Dove thank-you cards by signing up for their online newsletter; the first 20,000 are eligible.

Free New Yorker 2010 calendar.

Okay, technically I think this is for New Yorker subscribers, but I am one and they didn't tell me about this, so as revenge, I'm posting it for the world to see. Or at least the five of you who read this blog.

Get your free 2010 calendar poster, tastefully adorned with seasonal New Yorker cover images, before October 31. If they send it rolled up in a tube, that would indeed make it suitable for display, but if it comes folded in quarters with big crease marks that will never come out, maybe not so much. Welp, only one way to find out!

BOGO Sharpie 5-packs and 8-packs at Office Max.

It's another Sharpie coupon from Office Max! This time it's BOGO 5-packs and 8-packs, and you can mix-and-match colors and styles. They were pretty cool about honoring the last one, so I think you're all set if you want to drop in and stock up on your permanent marker needs for the next few years.

Two Michaels coupons for artistes.

Artistes and crafters, you're going to love these coupons from Michaels... one is the usual 40% off one item coupon, and then there's another one for 45% off your entire purchase of paints, pencils, pastels, and markers. Stock up for that nude figure drawing class you keep meaning to take! Or, um, if you just want to draw cartoon animals at home.

Free ruler, erasers, and crayons with $10 Office Depot purchase.

The school supply wars rage on... Office Depot's latest attack is giving you a free ruler, free package of pencil-topper erasers, and free crayons with a $10 purchase. If you look further on in the ad, there's a lot of 99-cent specials, including some cute little mini pens that I might want to get... they're really good for purses, carry-on bags, etc.

$10 off $20 at Oriental Trading Company.

Planning a themed party that will require elaborate decorations, novelty cups and plates, or glow sticks? Or perhaps you just really need to stock up on butter mints decorated with Bible verses. Oriental Trading Company understands, and they want to float you a discount: $10 off $20!

Coupon code: ST1019730, Exp: 08/13/09.

Free Office Depot backpack with $10 purchase.

Back-to-school is getting serious now, and you'll need something to stuff all those freebie school supplies in... so how about a free backpack? That is, free with your $10 purchase at Office Depot. The sale is good through August 15 and you can get two per household, but "quantities are limited," which suggests you should hustle down there if you want to double up.

The backpacks normally retail for $4.99, so they're probably not the greatest, but Kids Today don't take care of their stuff anyway. Why, when I was young, we used a STICK for a backpack! And we liked it!

$1 off $1 Sharpie highlighters = free.

Think of it as a back-to-school math lesson: If Sharpie highlighters cost $1, and you print this $1 off coupon, how much do the highlighters cost? FREE, that's how much.

Evidently CVS, Office Depot, and perhaps Target have the Sharpie highlighters on sale for $1 right now, so when you wield the power of this coupon, they become free. The coupon is on page 2... right under the $2 off Bagel Bites coupon! Double score!

Free cards and pen.

Everybody knows Asians love to gamble. Or, if they don't already, they will once they complete this survey and get their free deck of poker cards and accompanying pen. You do have to provide your mailing address in order to get the freebie, which means they can spam your mailbox with actual junk mail, but hey, that's a small price to pay for starting up your own illegal back-room gambling hall at home.
