Seattle: Free daffodils on March 19 at Pike Place Market.

Every spring, there is a day when I get very confused because I see hundreds of people marching around town all clutching lone daffodils. It's not Good Neighbor Day, because that's roses... well, now I finally have the answer! Pike Place Market holds Daffodil Day on March 19, celebrating the arrival of spring by handing out 12,000 free daffodils at lunchtime on Friday, March 19.

Flowers will be distributed at the following locations:
  • Fourth Avenue and Pine Street
  • Pacific Place
  • City Centre
  • Downtown Central Library
  • City Hall

Plus, presumably, somewhere at the market. So mark your calendars and claim your daffodils this Friday - it's spring!

FTD Good Neighbor Day is September 9.

Perhaps you're familiar with Good Neighbor Day... if you've ever been walking downtown and noticing that everyone passing you is holding, say, a single daffodil, this would be why. Stop by your local participating FTD and get an armload of flowers on September 9, then prepare to share!

Seattleites, there aren't any participating FTDs in Seattle - the closest one is up in Edmonds. So it's probably not on your way to work that day unless you live up north... you'll just have to find some other way to be a good neighbor.
