Free Nutri-Grain cereal bar case.

OK, at first I was kind of puzzled by this freebie, but then I flashed back to all the smashed, broken, and crushed cereal bars that I've fished out of backpacks, purses, and tote bags over the years, and it makes more sense. Get a free Nutri-Grain cereal bar case (it holds 2 bars) and never suffer the indignity of a pulverized cereal bar again!

Use UPC code 38000 01774 to fill out the questionnaire.

Free Kashi samples.

To balance out the unhealthiness of that free Oreo offer I just posted, here's something a little healthier and hippier: get a free sample of your choice of three different Kashi goodies. I've tried their cereals before and they're pretty good, but I really like the granola/trail mix bars, so I think it's all about the chocolate coconut bar for me.

Cheerios: Win a free box, or get a $1 off coupon that makes it free.

Cheerios is offering 50,000 free boxes of cereal in their new giveaway promotion thing, and you could be a winner by signing up! Plus, everybody gets email coupons good for $1 off a box of cereal, and my sources tell me that the last time they ran a similar promotion, they simultaneously had a sale where Cheerios were $1, effectively making them free, too.

I like Cheerios, especially the fancy fruity flavors and the frosted strawberry ones, which are particularly nutritious. That's the kind of commitment to a healthy lifestyle that I'm willing to make around this time of year.

Free books for kids when you become a Facebook fan of Cheerios.

This is a freebie with a twist: the free item isn't for you. When you become a Facebook fan of Cheerios through today, Nov. 5, they'll donate one free book to at-risk kids for every fan, up to 500,000 books. You like cereal, right? And you like literacy? So become a fan already! You can always hide their updates if you don't care to hear about Cheerios' doings.

Buy 2 General Mills cereals, get a free movie ticket.

Now this offer seems like a wholesome, nutritious deal. Buy two boxes of specially marked General Mills cereal, enter the codes on this website, and you'll get a printable certificate good for one movie admission. You can check for participating theaters here - Seattleites, we have plenty to choose from, including the downtown Meridian 16, Pacific Place, Cinerama, Uptown Cinemas, and more.

I'm going to buy two boxes of Reese's Puffs cereal, take it with me to a weepy romantic drama, and spend the whole two hours loudly crunching my way through them. Nothing ruins a tender moment like the plink-plink of chocolately cereal balls skittering down the aisles.

Buy 3 Kellogg's cereals, get a $10 gift card.

Here's an intriguing cereal offer... buy 3 boxes of specially marked Kellogg's cereals, go online and enter the promo codes you find inside the boxes, and get a $10 gift card good at all these exciting places.

You have until September 2010 to get your codes and cash in, so that should be enough time to eat three boxes of Raisin Bran, right? Or maybe not, since I've never managed to eat an entire bowl in my life, let alone three boxes. But maybe all that will change now.
