Etsy + Groupon = Heartsy.

Have you guys heard about Heartsy yet? It was described to me as "Etsy meets Groupon," which pretty much sums it up: each day there are a few featured sellers, and you can buy discounted gift certificates to their Etsy stores. You can sign up for a daily notification email that shows you who's featured — so far, I've seen a mix each day of bath products, art & photography, jewelry, vintage items, and more (about4-5 each day).

You can also vote on the upcoming sellers and help decide who gets featured next! But I have to warn you, it can be kind of hypnotic clicking through one after another and voting, voting, voting...

(Plus, if you sign up and make a purchase using my referral link, we both get $5, so that's a fun bonus.)

Michaels: 50% off any item.

I wasn't posting these Michaels coupons for a while because, I don't know, it wasn't exactly a freebie and craft stores didn't seem that exciting or something, but now I feel bad for neglecting them and I think I should show them some love. Plus, 50% off is a pretty respectable discount in my book.

Good through June 19, so there's plenty of time to buy supplies for that macaroni-and-rhinestone photo frame for Dad.

Tanga: ReadyMade 1-year subscription for $3.

Tanga's magazine deal of the day today is pretty good: a one-year subscription to ReadyMade for $2.99. It's on their website for $20, but with promo code READY it comes down to a mere $3. This magazine has 6 issues per subscription and you can buy up to a 3-year subscription.

I've always been a little curious about this one - it gets mixed reviews on Amazon as far as the usefulness/practicality of the projects. And since I'm a renter and not an owner, I'd be hesitant to tackle any projects that involve permanently altering my home. Anyone ever subscribed to this one and liked or disliked it? Leave it in the comments!

Seattle: Local Yarn Store Tour = free patterns, sales, prizes.

Knittin' kittens of Seattle, take note: the Local Yarn Store Tour is happening now through May 23. FOUR DAYS OF FIBER FUN! At each one of the 25 participating shops (extended hours for all four days!), you'll get a different free one-skein pattern and 10% off that yarn. Plus, you can win $50 prize drawings: one per shop per day. That's a lot of prizes!

Visit every one of the 25 shops to fill your "passport," and you'll be eligible to win any one of eight gift certificates for grand prizes totaling $1,500. Or just see the map of participating locations to drop by one in your area.

This just might inspire me to return to my own huge, dust-coated stash...

Seattle: Saturday Etsy craft sale at Intiman Theatre.

Looking for some last-minute handmade (but not by your hands) gifts for Mom? Or just want to check out what your fellow Seattle crafters are up to? Seattle’s Etsy collective, EtsyRain, is having a spring arts and crafts show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday in the lobby and fountain court of the Intiman Theatre, with a portion of the proceeds going to support Lifelong AIDS Alliance.

Admission is $1, which goes directly to the charity, and the first 50 people through the door get a swag bag filled with handcrafted items from EtsyRain artists. Vendors include I Make Cute Stuff by Marlo Miyashiro, Haute Goat recycled cashmere by Heidi Kappes-Belinsky, and It’s Made at Home by Meghan Harrington.

Shopping for a cause makes it MUCH easier to rationalize your purchases - take it from me.

Free PDF book of mason jar gift how-tos.

Well, this year I barely had time to click "Buy Now" on Amazon for my holiday shopping, but assuming I ever have the time to make some down-home hand-crafted gifts of love for my friends and family, I'm going to check out this PDF book of 34 Ideas for Gifts in a Jar.

There's the usual brownies-in-a-jar and cakes-in-a-jar, but also soup mixes, gingerbread and pumpkin bread baked in the jar, honey bath scrub, and edible chocolate bath scrub (!). There's also something called Cranberry Hootycakes, but you might want to stay away from that one. Just a feeling I have.

Crafty coupons: Michaels and JoAnn.

Cold, rainy weather got you fired up for a cozy evening in with your favorite craft project? Head over to Michaels or JoAnn.com and prepare to save BIG, my friends.

Speaking of which, I should really get started on my paint-by-numbers Pope.

Free paint starting June 25.

This is one of the stranger freebie offers I've seen, but starting tomorrow, June 25, you can sign up for a free quart of Glidden paint, any color. A quart isn't very much, so they're probably hoping you'll start a project, run out, and be forced to buy more or suffer a half-painted chair or something... but if you have a small project that requires paint, this might be worth checking out.

I once saw an interesting home-decor project that involved buying a bunch of thrift-store frames in different patterns, painting over them with two or three complementary colors, and then creating a wall collage of art or favorite photos, so maybe I'll try that with my free paint. What are you thinking about using your paint for? Leave it in the comments!

50% off coupon at Michaels.

Okay, now that the weather's finally nice, you probably have better things to do than sit inside perfecting your "Breezin' Into Fall" scrapbook page, but just in case you've got a project in mind, here's a 50% off one regular-priced item coupon for Michaels. It says "members only," but I haven't known them to have a secret coupon cabal, so I'm thinking it's probably just something that went out to people on their mailing list.

In case you haven't been into a Michaels lately, they also have seasonal decor, candles, and junk like that, so just because you don't want to paint a birdhouse doesn't mean there's nothing there for you.

Crafty Crafterson: Make your own play dough.

Well, this isn't really something I can personally endorse, because the smell of Play-doh made me gag as a kid and I hated, hated, HATED it. Still do. Buuuut, if you're looking for an inexpensive way to whip up some fun-time dough product, here is a recipe you can try.

What else can you make at home for a fraction of the price of the fancy, store-bought version? Let us know in the comments!

40% off Michaels coupon.

Crafty Craftersons, take note... here's a 40% off coupon for any one item at Michaels. I wish there was one closer to me, but the one at Southcenter closed, so the only one I know of is waaaay up in Lynnwood, a 20-minute drive for me. Boo! That's a long way, even for big savings. Seattleites, if you know of one that's closer, leave it in the comments...
