I know this is WAY advance notice on this one, but I say forewarned is forearmed, and I'll remind everyone again closer to the actual day. Anyway, Burt's Bees is celebrating their 25th "Burt Day," and if you RSVP for the event on Facebook, you can get one of 25,000 free lip balms they'll be giving away. Plus, there will be other giveaways and deals, apparently.

Burt's Bees lip balm giveaway - now more random.

Apparently enough people complained about the unfair head start that the Burt's Bees giveaway was handing to East Coasters by having a daily limit of 1,000 AND having the giveaway start at 9:00 am EDT (i.e., 6:00 am PDT for us chumps). So they've changed the rules of the game a bit.

"The giveaway starts anytime between 9 a.m. and 12 noon EDT but no one knows exactly when! To equal the odds and give you the fairest chance at a free balm, we've randomized the giveaway to start anytime between 9 a.m. and 12 noon EDT. It could be anytime. For instance -- it may be 9:15 AM one day, 10:25 AM the next, or 11:51 AM the day after! We don't know either - and that's what makes it fun! And if you don't get it one day, you'll get your chance. The balm giveaway goes through June 20, 2009."

So now they're forcing you to keep checking back and refreshing your browser all morning until their "randomizer" starts the daily allotment. This has some sinister overtones to me, but I guess it's fairer than just screwing the West Coast every day. Anyway, you have about two more weeks to score a free lip balm, so go to it.

I've written about the Burt's Bees mystery gift bag before... you pay $25 and get over $50 worth of lotions, lip balms, glosses, soaps, bath salts, and more. I ordered one myself last here; here's the rundown of what came in mine.

You may not like every single thing that comes in the grab bag, but there are so many items that it's perfect for splitting up into several small gift bags, or stocking stuffers to go along with bigger presents. Well, I'm not a big fan of the name, but you can get a free sample of Güd lotion (by Burt's Bees) when you "like" them on Facebook.

Ugh, the more I think about that name, the less I like it, and not just because that umlaut character was a pain in the butt to insert.
