JetBlue: 20% off fall fares.

JetBlue must want to get some cash on the books, because they're offering 20% off fall airfare when you travel Sep. 7 through Oct. 29. Use coupon code FALL2011. Here's the fine print:

"Discount Codes are case-sensitive; redeem at jetblue.com/promo; valid for 20% off roundtrip base fare for travel from Any JetBlue city to Any JetBlue city 9/7 – 10/29/2011. Blackout dates: 10/7 – 10/10/11. Travel must originate in the U.S. Discount deducted off base fare."

That's so far in advance that I'd be a little hesitant to buy - who knows what airfare prices will do in the meantime, and they say the best time to buy your tickets is 4-6 weeks before you travel. But if you know you're going somewhere on those dates and you want to get the airfare taken care of, this might be a good deal for you.

Amazon: 5GB of free Cloud Drive online storage.

This might be less tangible than some other freebies, but it might just be the most valuable one of all — Amazon is offering 5GB of free storage space when you set up a free Cloud Drive account. That's enough to hold about 1,000 songs.

Having an external drive to back-up your computer is nice, but unless you keep it in a separate location, it won't protect your data in the event of a fire/robbery/tsunami. Keep an extra copy of your precious photos, videos, or Great American Novel stored online and never have to worry about lost data again!

A free Android app every day at Amazon's Appstore!

Yesterday, Amazon launched their new Android Appstore (that's a lot of A words!), which gives Android smartphone-havers an easy way to browse, try out, and download apps within the familiar Amazon interface.

To encourage people to come and check it out, they're giving away a different free paid app every day! Yesterday it was Angry Birds Rio, which I downloaded successfully. Today it's some poker game, which is less interesting to me.

The process is a bit convoluted: when you go to the appstore home on Amazon and click "Get app," it will ask for your email or cellphone number, and send you a link to the appstore app download. You need to have your Mobile 1-click Amazon settings turned on, even to "buy" a free app, but once you've done that, it works pretty seamlessly.

What will you download for your Android phone?

Information: Secrets of online "dynamic pricing."

If you've ever put something in your online shopping cart at one price, only to come back a day later and see that it's mysteriously gone up a few bucks, you'll be interested in this Slate article on dynamic pricing. We all know that online travel booking sites do this - you can select tickets at one price only to see it go up by the time you finish checking out - but I didn't know that retailers like Amazon, Pottery Barn, and Zappos also do it, as well as banks and credit card companies.

The article has some interesting tips on juggling browsers and clearing cookies to help compare your options and choose the best deal. Of course, you should also search online for low prices, check for promo codes and special offers on deal-sharing sites like the HTN, and use those cash-back rebate portal sites for any online purchase anyway. How do you outsmart retailers to get the best online deals?

Puma in-store and online: 40% off everything.

Today's the last day for this sale at Puma, both in-store and online. Get 40% off everything when you print the coupon and take it to a store, or use the promo code
MEXA-REDM-FA5B-I6P2 (dashes included).

Alas, it doesn't look like free shipping is included, but I guess you can't have everything.

(Thanks, Jill!)

Amazon: Free National Geographic world music sampler.

Oh, they can try to make me call it "Nat Geo," but I won't. I won't, do you hear me? That's... pretty much the dumbest rebranding ever, and is it actually convincing anyone that NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC is hip to what the kids are saying these days? Should NG even care about that?

(On a side note, it turns out that National Geographic has its own music label, which I did not know, so maybe this is like their rapper name or something?)

Whatever. Fine. Here's a free world music sampler, courtesy of a certain DJ Nat Geo in the hizzy.

Groupon: $1 credit.

Who's a Groupon* lover? Everybody! Now the deal-sharing site has a special promo code that will give you $1 in credit toward your next online coupon. Just go to My Account and then Redeem a Gift Card on the sidebar, and enter GRSLICK.

*That's my referral link; if you follow it and create a membership, I get... something. I think.

Cost Plus: $25 for a $50 online-only gift certificate, or $10 off $30.

This Cost Plus deal is making the rounds today through a third-party Groupon-esque site, and it seems like a good deal IF you pay attention to the fine print. Ahem:
  • You pay $25 for a $50 Cost Plus gift certificate (actually a promo code) before Sep. 5.
  • The gift certificate is only good at CostPlus.com, NOT physical stores.
  • The gift certificate must be used by Dec. 31, 2010.
  • You can't buy a gift card with it, smartypants, and the code must be used in a single transaction.
And, in case you're wondering, shipping information is here, and a $50 purchase will cost you about $10 in shipping.  So it's more like $35 for $50 worth of stuff, which is still a pretty decent deal; Cost Plus gets tons of Xmas/holiday food and decor, so you could knock out a few presents on the cheap using this offer.

Or you can do it the old-fashioned way and print out this $10 off $30 coupon and take it to the physical store.  Snore.

Family Circle magazine, $3.50 subscription.

Tanga has another magazine deal today on Family Circle... it's listed as $14.99, but use promo code "FAMILY" and they'll knock it down to $3.50.  If you know any wholesome parental types who enjoy coupons and family-pleasing recipes, I bet they'll like this sweet subscription deal!

FREE Netflix iPhone app is here!

Yes, the free Netflix for iPhone app is here at last! Well, it's only free if you already have a Netflix account, but who doesn't anymore? (If you're one of the unlucky few, you can start a free trial membership on the app page, too.)

It also works for the iPad and iTouch, so if you have any of those devices, you're all set up for instantly streaming TV and movies. Now I can watch "Say Yes to the Dress" from anywhere in the world! Truly, this is humanity's finest moment.

Free Bic Easy Glide pen offer still going - 1,000 a day!

I kept getting mad at myself for forgetting this offer every day and blowing my chance at a free Bic Easy Glide pen. They're giving away 1,000 pens a day - how hard is it to remember to go and sign up?  But I finally did it today (with the help of an Outlook reminder), and I think you should too.

Fill out the form for your free Bic Easy Glide pen, and if you should happen to miss it today, their official "day" starts at noon Eastern time, aka 9:00 am Pacific time.  And, you know, there's no shame in setting yourself a reminder to be one of those lucky first thousand people.

Free Google tote bag when you "go Google."

Google is offering a limited supply of free tote bags made from its recycled billboards, and it wants to share them with you! But you have to upload a story about how your company has "gone Google," whatever that means. Um... I have my browser homepage set to Google, does that count?

Information: Get cash back on online purchases with Ebates.

I've talked about Ebates before - the site that gives you cash back on your online purchases - but since I just scored a cool $20 cash back this very day, I took it as a sign that I should write about it again. (Full disclosure: I'm giving you my referral link in this post, which gives me a wee bonus if you sign up.) There are many rewards sites that give you points toward gift cards or whatever, but relatively few that pay in COLD HARD CASH, like Ebates does. Plus, new members get to choose between a bonus $10 gift card or $5 in cash!

Once you create an account on this site, you use it as a portal to get to the hundreds of online stores that are Ebates affiliates, and get automatic cash rebates when you shop. Each day, featured stores offer double rebates, so it's worth checking if you intend to make a big purchase. Here's what you do:

1. Go to Ebates.com and search for the store you want to shop at (e.g., Kohls); if they're an affiliate, you'll see the cash-back rate (4%) and any related promo codes

2. Click the orange "Shop Now" button

3. Ebates sends you on to the store's website - now you just shop like normal and they'll calculate your cash back! (Cash back shows up in your Ebates account within a few days; they'll send you a confirmation email.)

Ebates partners with mainly large chain stores (not shady web businesses you've never heard of), so with one extra step, you can get cash back on your online shopping. The only bummer is you have to remember to go through Ebates FIRST - you can't retroactively have them credit your account - and they only issue quarterly checks once you have a minimum $10 refund balance (so there's no instant gratification).

Of course it would be nice if you signed up using my referral link so I get credit for it, but really I just want you to know about and use Ebates, especially if you're a frequent online shopper like me. When was the last time a single purchase got you $20 cash back?

Seattle: 1-year Zipcar membership + $50 driving credit = $35.

Ugh! This was a much longer post and then Blogger ate it, so now you get the condensed bullet-point version:
  • Zipcar is a car-sharing rental service where you pay an annual membership fee and then a per-hour or per-day rate to rent a variety of cars, trucks, and SUVs (insurance and gas included).
  • Membership normally costs $50/year, + $25 signup fee, but with this deal you get the one-year membership PLUS $50 in car rental credit for just $35!
  • Groupon is a daily deal website where they offer a new, discounted deal every day, and when enough people want to buy it, the deal activates and everybody can pile on. They have deals from restaurants, spas, outdoor activities, movie theaters, and more, so you should really sign up just to see what the daily deal is (I get no kickbacks from Groupon for saying this, I just believe in them!).

Whew, that went a lot faster. Let's hope it works this time.

Free wi-fi for all at Starbucks, starting today!

Just a reminder that Starbucks is finally offering free wi-fi at all its locations (well, U.S. locations, anyway). Apparently the first day of service wasn't without some bugs, but that's to be expected.

Along with the brand-new iced VIA packets, this is giving me tons of reasons to loiter around Starbucks...

Swagbucks: Get an extra 20 SBs when you join today!

I've mentioned Swagbucks before, but today they're offering a special deal, so I thought I'd tell you about it. Swagbucks is a search-and-win website that awards you points for searching online and completing special offers, which you can use to buy merchandise and (more importantly) gift cards from Amazon, Paypal, Starbucks, and more. You can sign up here (full disclosure: that's my referral link and when you sign up and earn points, it awards me points, too). Read my online review of it if you want to learn more. I earn enough points for $25 worth of Amazon gift cards a month, enough for a little personal shopping spree every month.

Today, Swagbucks is running a special offer: if you join today, use code SweetTweeting on the homepage, and you'll get an extra 20 SBs! That's 50 Swagbucks to start instead of 30, and since a $5 Amazon gift card costs 450 SBs, you'll be well on your way.

Last but not least, if you scroll down to the bottom of this page, you'll see the Swagbucks widget. This little gadget tracks SB promo codes that are available on the SB blog, Twitter, Facebook, and more, so it's a handy thing to check throughout the day. If you like free stuff, then I think you'll like Swagbucks!

Free vanilla lip balm when you enter for a Hawaiian vacation.

Want a Hawaiian vacation? How about an organic vanilla lip balm? Well, you can get at least one of those when you enter Veria's "H.O.T.T. Hawaiian Vacation" sweepstakes. That stands for "Hot on the Trail Hawaiian adventure," which includes two round trip tickets, three nights' accommodation, and a fresh, locally foraged H.O.T.T. dinner for two.

Winners will be chosen on July 15, so if you like tropical getaways or moisturized lips, sign up soon!

Restaurant.com: $25 gift certificates for $2.

I've written about Restaurant.com before — usually with a grain of salt — but since the last time I posted about it, a friend of mine purchased one and cashed it in successfully, so I'm feeling more confident about it now. $25 "gift certificates" are going for $2 with promo code SUMMER, through June 24.

Remember, the deal is that you're effectively paying $2 for a $25-off-a-minimum-purchase-of-$xx coupon, usually with some additional restrictions (e.g., alcohol and tip don't count toward the total). The most common minimum purchase is $35, so you'd be paying $12 out of pocket for $35 worth of food ($2 "gift certificate" price + $10 difference). But some of the places have a much higher minimum purchase or other restrictions, so read the terms carefully for a restaurant before you buy! OK, that's it for my stern mom lecture. Don't do drugs!!

Amazon: Free MP3 albums from around the world.

I admit, I'm late to the party with Amazon's free MP3 albums. Who knew they had so many? Not only are there a ton of record-label samplers out there (mostly indie labels, that I've seen), there are a bunch of interesting music samplers from all around the world. Check these out:
And that's just the beginning... there are tons and tons of free albums and songs available on Amazon. You do have to use their MP3 downloader, but it's free and it automatically imports downloads into iTunes when it's finished, so it's a snap to use. You don't have to spend any money to put together a great summer playlist for the 4th of July!

Free Starbucks wi-fi starting July 1.

Starbucks is finally jumping on the free wi-fi train, bringing free one-click wi-fi to all of its stores on July 1. This will be followed in fall 2010 by something called the Starbucks Digital Network, availabled in stores only, where you can access paid sites for free and get news, downloads, and other exclusive special content.

More importantly, though, FREE WI-FI! Now you can loiter there even longer with your iced latte, just like they like.
