I don't normally post contests on the HTN, but this one is both Seattle-based (though open to all U.S. residents) and pretty cool, so I'm making an exception. Cinnabon: Free mini cupcakes on April 15.

Cinnabon is declaring that "Tax Day Bites," and is marking the dread occasion with free mini cupcakes for all. Stop by your participating Cinnabon to pick up your two free Cupcake Bites from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. But only after you've dropped that tax return in the mail, of course!

If your love of cinnamon buns has you waxing poetic, you can also participate in their essay contest for a chance to win a $100 gift card. Just tell them why your life needs Cinnabon frosting in 500 words or less, and the prize could be yours.

Free Butterfinger bar when you "file a claim."

Ugh, sometimes these cutesy promotions get on my nerves. Butterfinger wants to give you a free candy bar... but only if you "file a claim" for "Butterfinger Bar Insurance." Whatever the heck that means.

OK, so I guess what it is, is that you just fill out the form to receive a coupon for a free Butterfinger. BUT if you feel creative, you can also write a little story about how someone laid a finger on your Butterfinger, which they choose to call a "crime report." If you do this, your story could be posted on their website and you're entered to win some fabulous prizes, like an iPhone or a year's supply of Butterfingers. One bar is just about a year's supply of Butterfingers for me, so I think I'm good with just the coupon.

Okay, contests and sweepstakes aren't really freebies, but they are free to enter and you could win a fabulous prize. More importantly, there is NOTHING out there in freebie-land today, so I'm posting this in case you'd like to turn your luck around.

Woman's Day is a magazine you probably don't read, but they always have tons of contests on their website - and now they have even more, in partnership with other publications. Scroll about halfway down the page, and that's where they start. There's designer jewelry, a bunch of all-expenses-paid vacations both domestic and international, fragrances, home stuff, and more. You usually have to click through to skip one or two "featured offers" in order to enter, but it's all free and you don't have to sign up for anything. And you can enter once per day. Someone's got to win, and it might as well be you!

Hey, Washington residents, I know you're a big fan of KING FM. No? Well, maybe you will be when you see how many contests they put up on their Facebook fan page! They've done two just this week, one of which I just won: dinner for two at Brasa and tickets to the Paramount's Silent Movie Monday! (This isn't kickback advertising or anything, I just wanted to gloat about my winnings.)

Kikkoman contest up and running again.

Back around Chinese New Year, Kikkoman was running a contest where you could win free kitchen utensils and soy sauce and stuff. I tried to enter, but the system was down and wouldn't let me, so I didn't post it.

Anyway, they just sent me an email saying that the contest is up and running once more, so you can go enter to win fabulous prizes such as a silicone basting brush, spoon rest, stainless steel tongs, cookbooks, or coupons for Kikkoman products. No purchase required, but you'll have to enter your contact info so they can email you a PIN to enter with.

Contest: Win a 2-night round-trip package on the Victoria Clipper.

I don't think I've ever posted a contest announcement here, but I just happened to stumble across this one and thought it was worth posting for Seattleites. Victoria Clippers is having a photo contest for your best pictures of Seattle, Victoria, and the Victoria Clipper itself. Winners in each of those three categories will get two round-trip tickets on the Victoria Clipper plus a gift bag, and the grand prize winner gets a two-night vacation package, champagne breakfast, and gift bag.
