Upcycle those Halloween candy wrappers, donate to charity.

What to do with all the trick-or-treat flotsam and jetsam drifting around your house after each candy binge? Why not save those wrappers and donate them to a good cause? TerraCycle wants your candy wrappers and will give $0.02 per wrapper to the cause of your choice. Just sign up and you'll receive pre-paid postage labels; fill a box with wrappers and send it off when it's full.

You can also do the same with Aveeno cosmetic bottles, baggies, Caprisun drink pouches, and more.  TerraCycle uses those items to make recycled bags, office supplies, and gifts, which you can purchase at their online store. Who couldn't use a Clif bar messenger bag?

Free pack of Hot Tamales.

Hey, winner, you've won a free pack of Hot Tamales! Well, technically you won something called a "Wheel of Fire," which entitles you to some free Hot Tamales, but same difference.

Follow the cool sunglasses-wearing fireball and fill out the form to get yours!

Free Sample Showcase super-box from USPS.

It's a sample showcase from the USPS! You have to fill out a short survey to qualify, but as HeyIt'sFree.net comments, "I know for a fact that females with 0-3 kids who make $75,001-$100,000 qualify." HINT HINT. Apparently the site might be a little fussy due to traffic, but hang in there until you get it.

The thank-you graphic that displays after you finish seems to imply that you'll be getting Dove chocolate bars, Reese's peanut butter cups, Secret deodorant, Shower to Shower body powder, Taster's Choice instant coffee, Aveeno skin care, and Grill Mates seasoning, so that's got to be something for everyone, right? Plus, it's like a whole Xmas stocking of freebies all in one!

(Thanks, Hey It's Free!)

Facebook: Free pretzel M&Ms.

The last M&Ms I tried (coconut) weren't that great, but this new flavor sounds pretty promising: pretzel M&Ms! Become a Facebook friend and get a free bag. There were about 22,000 free samples left when I signed up just now, so if you hurry, you can get one.

I got a weird error message when I signed up, saying that I had already requested one, but don't worry, this is just a glitch - others have reported the same thing and then they got an email confirming that their sample was on the way.

Free Harry & David Moose Munch w/coupon + 20% off.

Harry & David's Moose Munch is one of those things that I try to forget exists, because it's dangerous knowledge. But having seen this coupon for a free 10-oz box, I can't un-see it, so I'm just going to share it with you because misery loves company.

Seattleites, there is a store at Bellevue Square, so if you're over that way before May 9, print this coupon and collect your free box. There's also a 20% discount with promo code DISCOUNT20, but you have to go to a physical store to get the Moose Munch.

Free movie ticket when you buy 4 bags of Hershey's.

I usually buy candy that I don't like (i.e., Hershey's) for my office candy jar, so that I'm not tempted to eat it. At last, there's something in it for me! Get a free movie ticket when you send in this form and 4 proofs of purchase from 10-oz or larger bags of Hershey's candy.

They ran a similar promotion before, except you had to get these specially marked bags that had a promotional label on the front, and surprise surprise, those bags mysteriously disappeared off shelves WELL before the end date of the offer. This one just seems to be any bag of Hershey's Kisses, Reese's peanut butter cups, Hershey's miniatures, or York peppermint patties.

Now if only a candy-centric holiday had just occurred, so that we could stock up on four bags of qualifying candy at 50% off or more. Huh. Too bad.

Free Butterfinger bar when you "file a claim."

Ugh, sometimes these cutesy promotions get on my nerves. Butterfinger wants to give you a free candy bar... but only if you "file a claim" for "Butterfinger Bar Insurance." Whatever the heck that means.

OK, so I guess what it is, is that you just fill out the form to receive a coupon for a free Butterfinger. BUT if you feel creative, you can also write a little story about how someone laid a finger on your Butterfinger, which they choose to call a "crime report." If you do this, your story could be posted on their website and you're entered to win some fabulous prizes, like an iPhone or a year's supply of Butterfingers. One bar is just about a year's supply of Butterfingers for me, so I think I'm good with just the coupon.

Facebook: BOGO Skittles and Starburst.

Facebook, Skittles, and Starburst go together like peanut butter, jelly, and, um, bread. BFFs! So why not celebrate that joyous union with BOGO offers from Skittles and Starburst when you become a fan on Facebook? Once you become a fan, just fill out the forms at those links and it sounds like you'll get a printable BOGO coupon that you can use right away.

I wish there was a Facebook fan page for sour gummi worms, though, because that's what I've totally been craving this week. Sigh.

Free Tropical Chewy Lemonheads.

Lemonheads! I haven't thought about those in years. The very name takes me back to childhood, when I would buy those and the little boxes of Boston Baked Beans off the ice cream truck that came through our neighborhood. Uphill both ways! In the snow! For five cents! AND WE LIKED IT!

Anyway, get your free sample of newfangled Tropical Chewy Lemonheads, which the children of the future will be nostalgic for fifty years from now. Blows your mind, doesn't it?

Fred Meyer (and maybe elsewhere): Free Guylian Twists w/rebate.

I was at Fred Meyer tonight doing my usual grocery shopping, and saw a delightful surprise - a rebate offer for Guylian Belgian Chocolate Twists! When I was a kid, we always had Guylian's chocolate seashells as an Xmas treat, and I still remember them fondly, so I was curious to try this new product, especially for free.

It turns out to be an individually wrapped seahorse-shaped chocolate truffle, with a similar flavor to the original seashells. They're available in milk, dark, and praline flavors, and their regular price was $3.69. It's the standard rebate form/UPC/receipt mail-in deal, but you do need the actual form to send in, so look for the displays in Fred Meyer and other purveyors of fine Belgian chocolates. The offer is good through 6/30/10, so you have a little while...

Free bag of Hershey's Pieces.

"What are Pieces and why do I want them?" you may be asking yourself. Well, Pieces are those bags of little candy-bar nuggets, draped in chocolate. It seems to have been reverse-engineered from Reese's Pieces, because they now have Almond Joy Pieces, Special Dark Pieces, and York Peppermint Patty Pieces.

Anyway, when you fill out this form and send in one full-size wrapper from the corresponding Hershey's bar, you shall receive (a coupon for) a full-size bag of Pieces. Or rather, the first 25,000 will, so get right on it if you want yours!

Free YoCrunch yogurt when you send in a candy wrapper.

Okay, well, I know this flyer looks so cheesy that you probably think it's fake, and I would have thought that too, except it's hosted on the yocrunch.com site, so it has to be real, right? I mean, doesn't it look like something that a national brand would spend money having an expert designer create? No?

Well, whatever. MS Paint Frankenstein and wavy 3-D banner text aside, the offer stands: send YoCrunch an envelope stuffed with trick-or-treat candy wrappers (or, you know, any candy wrappers you happen to have lying around) and they'll send you a coupon for a free YoCrunch candy-topped yogurt. You know, for a healthier lifestyle. For your kids.

Think of the children!

Last Free Chocolate Friday ever!

Come on, just try to muster up some interest in free chocolate. It's this freebie's last hurrah, after all, and just because we've grown used to stretching out our hands and having free candy bars drop into them doesn't make this less of a deal.

Come to think of it, I never did get the one that I had sent to my work address... do you think they're on to me?!

Free Chocolate Friday: ending soon!

I know, I know, Free Chocolate Friday is hardly news, but believe it or not, the free chocolate won't last forever, so I urge you to go and sign up for your full four-coupon allotment per household if you haven't done so already.

I've been particularly pleased with the Dove Almond and Dove Peanut Butter flavors, though my skinny jeans have not. But there's plenty of time to worry about that in fall, when we can start wearing layers again.

It's Free Chocolate Friday, you know.

I realize we all have free chocolate coupons stacked to the ceiling by now, but believe it or not, the free candy will eventually run out, so you may as well get 'em while you can.

Free chocolate melts just as fast.

Yep, it's Free Chocolate Friday once again, although considering Seattle's recent heat wave, this may not be the time to get yourself a piping-hot bar of melty chocolate. Unless you plan to eat it within 30 seconds, I guess.

Personally, I'm loving the Dove with Almonds flavor, which I only tried because these free coupons kept showing up in my mailbox, so I guess their fiendishly clever campaign is working after all. Curses!

Friday, July 24, 2009

If that's free chocolate, then it must be Friday.

This is getting out of control. I have coupons for free chocolate all over my house, my cubicle, my purse... they're everywhere. And it's not like I haven't been using them. They just keep coming! Limit of four, limit of schmour.

Free Chocolate Friday - to infinity and beyond!

Friday, July 17, 2009

Infinite quantities of free chocolate.

I'm convinced that they're not tracking these free candy bar coupons at all, even though technically you're limited to four free coupons per household. They just keep sending them and I keep cashing 'em in, though, so who am I to argue?

In related news, the Dove Milk Chocolate with Almonds bar is pretty darn good. Especially when it's sprinkled with free sauce.
