Seattle: Free ice skating June 4 at Key Arena.

So you may have heard that the summers in Seattle are pretty cold...

[HOW COLD ARE THEY???]

Well, let's just say we go ice-skating in June.

[laughter, applause]

Okay, I may be exaggerating a little, but it's true that you can ice-skate here in June - specifically, on June 4 at the Key Arena. For free!

"The public is invited to glide across 17,000 square feet of ice from noon-8 p.m. this Friday at KeyArena. Skating sessions begin at the top of each hour (lasting 40 minutes), and some food and drink concessions will be available (outside food and nonalcoholic drinks are allowed as well). In addition, ice walkers will be available for those who need extra support."

Depending on how many "nonalcoholic drinks" you bring in from outside, you may be needing those ice walkers to get back to your car. Hi-o! I'll be here all week, ladies and gentlemen.

Seattle: Free Mariners tix at Starbux May 21.

Seattleites, you're in luck! Starbucks thinks you are its very best customers, and it wants to show its appreciation by offering you a special treat every Friday until June 18 at local participating Seattle Starbucks.

This Friday, 5/21, come in to a participating Starbucks after 2:00 p.m. PST and you could pick up free tickets to select Mariners games. Tickets are first come, first serve, so be sure to get there early!

I have to admit, I've never been to a Mariners game (or, um, any other sporting event in Seattle unless you count roller derby), and free is definitely the right price, so maybe I'll consider it. I do like nachos and $8 beer, and I hear you can get those at ballgames.

Free PowerBar Gel Blasts sample.

To me, "Gel Blasts" sounds like something you'd put in your dishwasher for extra shine, but I guess it's actually an energy replacement science food for athletes, or something. Try your free sample of these fruit-flavored sugar chews and prepare to excel at sports like never before.

Or something.

Free Gillette deodorant AND sweepstakes.

Don't be fooled by this page, it looks like a sweepstakes but it's actually a freebie in disguise. I mean, yes, you can enter to win one of 20 photographic prints of famous sporting personages or something, but more importantly, you can get a free sample of Gillette anti-perspirant and deodorant. Just remember to check the box at the bottom that says, "Yes, I want a free sample."

And who knows, you might win a picture, too. Um... if you're into that kind of thing.
