Seattle: Free "Sister Act" screening tix today at 3 pm.

I almost forgot! The Starbucks freebie series continues this week with free tickets to a screening of "Sister Act" at the Paramount for you and three friends. You also have a chance to win tickets to the Broadway version that's coming in 2013.

I think I'll pass on this one, but next week is the free zoo tickets, so mark your calendars for that!

Seattle: Free Seattle Art Museum ticket at Starbucks, today at 3 pm.

Here's a special freebie that's just for Seattle... Starbucks is giving away free Seattle Art Museum tickets today at 3:00 pm, at participating Seattle locations (which basically means all of them). It doesn't say, but it's probably one per person, so play nice and share!

No purchase is necessary, but it's always nice to buy a little something and/or tip your barista in exchange for the free ticket. Those things usually cost like $20, you know!

Free admission on National Public Gardens Day, May 6.

May 6 is National Public Gardens Day, and Better Homes & Gardens wants to help you score free admission to a public garden in your area! Fill out the form and choose your garden from the drop-down menu. Each coupon is good for 2 people, so print out 1 coupon for every 2 people in your group.

Seattle, we get something called "Powell's Wood" in Federal Way. Never heard of it, but free is free, I suppose...

Free IMAX tickets to "Tron: Legacy."

In a perhaps-not-quite-that-intuitive cross-promotion (they are the razors of the future?), Norelco is sponsoring free IMAX tickets to "Tron: Legacy" in a handful of cities (click the link in the top nav bar or at the bottom):
  • Atlanta
  • Boston
  • Dallas
  • Los Angeles
  • Minneapolis/Apple Valley
  • Philadelphia
  • Phoenix/Tempe
  • San Francisco
  • Seattle
  • Washington DC
  • Bentonville
  • Chicago
  • Detroit
  • Fort Lauderdale/Miami
  • Houston
  • New York City
Seattle's showing is Monday, December 15. Each day there's an allotment of free tickets, and the pain is that you have to complete the form and hit Submit to find out whether there are any still available. But if you reeeeeally want to see "Tron: Legacy" in IMAX for free, it could be worth the effort!

Sat. 9/25 is National Free Museum Day!

Yep, you read that right... hundreds of museums around the country will be offering FREE admission this Saturday, September 25.  And all you have to do is pre-print your admission ticket using this site right here.  It's brought to you by the Smithsonian, but there are plenty of museum options nationwide.

Seattleites can pick from many cool museums, including the EMP/Sci-Fi Museum, the Bellevue Arts Museum, the Henry Art Gallery at the UW, Tacoma's Museum of Glass, the Museum of Doll Art, and good ol' SAM.

To get your ticket (good for two people), fill out the form and your ticket will be emailed to you. You must have a pre-printed ticket to get in free, so don't just sashay into your favorite museum on Saturday or you'll get the Paris-Hilton-in-Tokyo treatment.

Free Night of Theater tickets all over the U.S.

Feeling the need to get a little culture?  Why not enjoy a Free Night of Theater in October?  Tickets to free performances from Oct. 1-31 will be offered all around the country, so check the show listing and see what's on near you.

Seattle, you'll be redirected to an old site, so ignore that. For us, it's part of ArtsCrush, and you can be first in line for free tix by showing up at the ArtsCrush kickoff fair at the Seattle Center on Oct. 3. Otherwise, you can register online for free tickets starting on Oct. 4 with the hoi polloi.

Seattle: $6 Groupon tix to the Woodland Park Zoo.

If, like me, you intended to make it up to the zoo this summer to check out the new meerkats but didn't quite get a chance, this Groupon offer will be welcome news: $6 zoo admission tickets (they're normally $11 in the off-season) that are good through April 2011.

Groupon is a deal-sharing site where businesses post discounted tickets, gift certificates, and services for pretty amazing prices; if enough people commit to buy it, the deal is activated and then anyone can pile on and purchase the deal until it expires (usually at the end of that day).  The offers are specific to your metro area, so even if you live outside Seattle, that link will take you to a personalized page based on where you are.

I've done a few Groupon offers so far and have been really pleased; the merchants know what Groupon is, the deals work smoothly, and nobody makes you feel second-class for using a coupon. If you do decide to join, why not be a doll and use my referral link so I get $10 in Groupon bucks?

Cost Plus: Free movie ticket w/$10 purchase.

Cost Plus has an interesting promotion today and tomorrow... the first 10,000 people who make a $10 purchase and register online get a free movie ticket. Seeing as movie tickets cost about $10 anyway, you might as well get some imported chocolate and hand-carved trinkets for the same price.

10,000 is a pretty good amount - I'd say if you go make your purchase today, you have a good shot at getting the free ticket in time. Of course, if you don't make it under the wire, you can always return the merchandise the next day in protest and stick it to the man.

Seattle: Free SAM admission for dads on Father's Day.

SAM just announced on their Facebook page that dads get free admission to the Seattle Art Museum on Father's Day, June 20!

I doubt they'll insist that you whip out your Dad ID, so as long as you're a dude and you look old enough to have fathered offspring, you're probably good to go. It would certainly help if you could grab a kid off the street and hold their hand in the ticket line, though.

Seattle: Final Starbucks ticket giveaway today, 2 pm!

Today is the final giveaway day in Starbucks's "We Love You Seattle" promotion. This time, tickets are for selected shows of BURN THE FLOOR, a ballroom-themed dancetacular at Seattle's Paramount Theatre. I'm pretty excited about this one myself, so you'll find me in line at 1:59 pm waiting impatiently for my voucher.

Find a participating store in the area and wait your turn! These free tickets fly out the doors within 15 minutes or so, so don't dawdle if you want some floor-burning action.

Seattle: Free youth ticket to Seattle Aquarium @ Starbucks, 2 pm.

Starbucks's "We Love You Friday" promotion is back today, although this one isn't that interesting to me: a free youth ticket to the Seattle Aquarium. The giveaway starts at 2:00 pm this afternoon and they never last long, so be sure to be hovering near the counter if you want to snag one of these.

As always, no purchase necessary, though you do run the risk of getting sneered at if you're in a group of freebie-seekers and nobody orders anything. I'm actually kind of glad I can give it a miss this week and avoid the withering stares of judgment...

Seattle: Free SAM tix at Starbucks today, 2 pm.

Starbucks is back again with another Friday freebie for Seattle... this one is pretty good, too: a free Seattle Art Museum pass good through September 30, 2010.

Right now, the SAM has an Andy Warhol photography exhibit and a Kurt Cobain something something (wasn't paying attention), so you can go anytime this summer. You know, to get in out of the rain.

Reminder: Free Mariners tix, 2 pm, at Starbucks.

Don't forget! Starbucks is showing its Seattle appreciation by offering you a special treat every Friday until June 18 at local participating Seattle Starbucks.

Today, May 21, come in to a participating Starbucks after 2:00 p.m. PST for free tickets to select Mariners games. Tickets are first come, first serve, so be sure to get there early! No purchase necessary.

Seattle: Free Mariners tix at Starbux May 21.

Seattleites, you're in luck! Starbucks thinks you are its very best customers, and it wants to show its appreciation by offering you a special treat every Friday until June 18 at local participating Seattle Starbucks.

This Friday, 5/21, come in to a participating Starbucks after 2:00 p.m. PST and you could pick up free tickets to select Mariners games. Tickets are first come, first serve, so be sure to get there early!

I have to admit, I've never been to a Mariners game (or, um, any other sporting event in Seattle unless you count roller derby), and free is definitely the right price, so maybe I'll consider it. I do like nachos and $8 beer, and I hear you can get those at ballgames.

Cupcake Royale: BOGO Roseanne Cash tix w/purchase.

I'm a little confused about this offer because of how it's worded, but I think it explains how cupcakes are your gateway to free music. Rosanne Cash, Johnny's eldest daughter, will be playing the Moore Theatre on May 1 as part of NPR's All Things Considered. AND "if you a buy a cupcake from any Cupcake Royale location from Friday, April 16, through Sunday, April 25th, you can bring a friend to the show for free."

Looking at their Facebook page, that seems to mean that Cupcake Royale is selling tix to this event directly, and with the purchase of a cupcake, you can get BOGO tix to the show.

Sometimes themes seem to emerge with freebies, and today's theme seems to be "music events in Seattle." So, uh, sorry, everybody else... we'll get you tomorrow.

Seattle: Bumbershoot 2010 to offer "lite" $22 recession tickets.

If you avoid Bumbershoot like the plague because it's too expensive, too crowded, and the main acts suck anyway, here's a solution for you: this year, Bumbershoot is offering $22 "economy" tickets that give you admission to everything except the mainstage headlining shows. (They'll be $30 at the door.) The standard ticket for all events including mainstage shows will be $40 advance ($5 more than 2009) and $50 at the door (same as 2009).

So what does your $22 get you? Admission to the grounds, art exhibits, music, comedy shows, literary panels and discussions, and other performances. If you hate paying a premium to subsidize a big-name band you're not interested in anyway, this is a cost-effective way to see the sights and get the experience, while still having some cash left over for $8 beers and $10 hot dogs.

Free movie tix to "Gentlemen Broncos."

I don't know what the movie "Gentlemen Broncos" is or what it might be about, but you can get free screening tickets in select cities. Seattle's showing will be at the Landmark Varsity on November 10 at 7:00 p.m., so if you're free that evening, get yourself some tix to a free show! Whatever it may turn out to be!
