KFC: Free chicken on Oct. 26. No, really!

Here we go again, people... if you can get past the cutesy-fakesy tone of this news release, the gist is that on Monday, October 26, KFC will once again supposedly be giving away free chicken at participating restaurants. That's one piece of grilled chicken per customer, no coupon needed. I would have liked it better if they had showed some humor and humility by gently poking fun at their last attempt, but nope, just a lot of dumb advertising-speak about something called the "Grilled Nation."

Last time, as you may recall, resentful franchisees dragged their heels by claiming they'd already given away their allotment or pretending that the free chicken would be ready, ohhh, 20 minutes from now (while cheerfully serving paying customers their food). If you don't want to get caught in the crossfire this time, make sure to call ahead to your local store and find out if they're really offering free faux-grilled chicken.

I can't wait to see what mocking response-campaign Del Taco runs this time...
