Perhaps you've seen Nescafe's recent ad campaign, in which they make bitchy swipes at how Starbucks is dumb and stupid and ugly for introducing their (actually awesome) VIA instant coffee, when Nescafe has been doing it FOREVER and are the MASTERS OF THE INSTANT COFFEE UNIVERSE. Frankly, their ads have a whiff of desperation to them, as do the stacks of multi-pack samples they've been handing out on the streets here.
But in case you haven't gotten to try it and are curious, you can sign up for free samples of Nescafe's single-serve packets, which look hauntingly similar to the hated VIA packets. I tried the "gourmet roast" flavor, which looked like kitty litter and tasted like dishwater, and am not convinced. But, you know, maybe your grandma would like some, or you know a thirsty cat lady in your neighborhood.
