Normally these free download offers get a resounding "meh" from me, because I assume they're lame also-ran bands whose music wouldn't need free giveaways if it were worth buying. But this one could actually be good, as it's a sampler from Barsuk Records, former home of Death Cab for Cutie. It includes tracks by Menomena, Mates of State, John Vanderslice, Viva Voce, and the Long Winters, as well as, yes, DCFC.
The offer is through Amazon, so you'll need to download their free MP3 widget in order to import them to your iTunes or what have you, but it's quick and simple and then you'll get free music!
