Tanga: Weight Watchers Magazine 1-year subscription, $2.99.

Tanga has another great magazine deal today - a 1-year subscription to Weight Watchers magazine for $2.99. It shows up on the link as $14.99, but when you use promo code LOSE, that kicks it down to a mere three bucks.

If they can make the pounds drop as fast as the dollars, I'm in!

Free Eucerin sample when you "like" them on Facebook.

It seems like it's been a few days since I posted a Facebook offer, so let's break that streak right now with this Eucerin offer. Get a free sample of their lotion when you "like" them and complete the online form.

Oh, I guess you have to take some sort of "Skin First Pledge" or some nonsense, but you can keep your fingers crossed while you do it. I won't tell.

Free Annie's cotton eco-lunch bag.

You know Annie's, right? The hippie-foods company that makes the mac 'n' cheese shaped like little rabbits? Well, they want to give you (or rather, your kid) an eco-friendly cotton lunch sack for free with 2 UPCs. It's made with 100% recycled cotton and printed with vegetable-based inks, and it even has a friendly "rabbit of approval" to guard your Caprisun and peanut butter crackers.

Gather your UPC codes and fill out the online form to receive your free "eco-chic" bag.

Borders: 33% off one item.

Oh, Borders. You're like the middle child of the freebie world, always tugging on my pant leg and whining, "Lookit! Lookit, I have a coupon too, LOOK AT MEEEE!"

Okay, okay, calm down. We all see that you have a 33% off coupon that's good through August 1. That's very nice. Now go play outside.

Free OJ from Waffle House.

Waffle House has another freebie coupon floating around the Internets... this one for a free orange juice. Looks like no purchase is necessary, and it's good through August 13, so go and get your free vitamin C!

Free Google tote bag when you "go Google."

Google is offering a limited supply of free tote bags made from its recycled billboards, and it wants to share them with you! But you have to upload a story about how your company has "gone Google," whatever that means. Um... I have my browser homepage set to Google, does that count?

Walmart: In-store free sampling events.

Walmart is going full bore with these in-store giveaway events. Here are some more that are happening this weekend:

The complete list has even more stuff, including Benefiber, Dove, Degree, Keri Lotion, and more, but you'll have to enter your ZIP code to see when and where these events are taking place near you. If you're a Walmart shopper anyway, you may want to plan your shopping trips so you can swing by for some freebies while you're there.

Information: Get cash back on online purchases with Ebates.

I've talked about Ebates before - the site that gives you cash back on your online purchases - but since I just scored a cool $20 cash back this very day, I took it as a sign that I should write about it again. (Full disclosure: I'm giving you my referral link in this post, which gives me a wee bonus if you sign up.) There are many rewards sites that give you points toward gift cards or whatever, but relatively few that pay in COLD HARD CASH, like Ebates does. Plus, new members get to choose between a bonus $10 gift card or $5 in cash!

Once you create an account on this site, you use it as a portal to get to the hundreds of online stores that are Ebates affiliates, and get automatic cash rebates when you shop. Each day, featured stores offer double rebates, so it's worth checking if you intend to make a big purchase. Here's what you do:

1. Go to Ebates.com and search for the store you want to shop at (e.g., Kohls); if they're an affiliate, you'll see the cash-back rate (4%) and any related promo codes

2. Click the orange "Shop Now" button

3. Ebates sends you on to the store's website - now you just shop like normal and they'll calculate your cash back! (Cash back shows up in your Ebates account within a few days; they'll send you a confirmation email.)

Ebates partners with mainly large chain stores (not shady web businesses you've never heard of), so with one extra step, you can get cash back on your online shopping. The only bummer is you have to remember to go through Ebates FIRST - you can't retroactively have them credit your account - and they only issue quarterly checks once you have a minimum $10 refund balance (so there's no instant gratification).

Of course it would be nice if you signed up using my referral link so I get credit for it, but really I just want you to know about and use Ebates, especially if you're a frequent online shopper like me. When was the last time a single purchase got you $20 cash back?

Seattle: Free haircut on Capitol Hill.

Today must be a day for unusual freebies - first pill-swallowing throat spray, now free haircuts. Capitol Hill's Salon Armand is offering 20% off services through August, and its newbie stylist Tyson Wogan is offering free haircuts by appointment to new clients, to help establish a clientele.

Normally I'd be wary of a free haircut, because you get what you pay for, but the NW Source blogger who posted the deal has been to Tyson herself, and she vouches for him. If you're looking a bit shaggy, why not give him a try?

Seattle: Free concert Aug. 16 at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley.

Jazz composer and piano player Amina Figarova plays a free show with her sextet at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 16 at Dimitriou's Jazz Alley. Reservations are required through 206-441-9729 or www.jazzalley.com/reservations.asp.

The Azerbaijan-born and Rotterdam-based Figarova cites Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock as influences, but adds a world flavor to her contemporary music. For a listen, go to www.aminafigarova.com.

Free National Geographic music sampler.

National Geographic, or "Nat Geo" as they would like to be called (I refuse to say it), has a free music sampler for you, via Amazon MP3. I'm not familiar with any of the groups on here, but it sounds like it's probably world music or something like that, so if you're in the mood for something different AND free, give it a listen.

JetBlue fall "shipping and handling" sale.

JetBlue is back with a fall airfare sale: fares start at $39 one way (or 5,000 TrueBlue points) - "ship" yourself and they'll "handle" your first bag for free! Book through 11:59 p.m. 7/30/10, for travel between 9/7-12/15/10.

Not available for travel between 11/18-11/30/10. Flights are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Second bag fee of $30 applies. Other restrictions are listed at the bottom of the deal page.

JetBlue doesn't have a huge presence out here on the West Coast, but if you're from (or heading to) the East Coast this fall, you could save some $$$ with this sale.

$2 camis at Old Navy, July 29-31.

Although it may not feel like it right now, in the middle of summer, camis are an essential layering piece for your fall and winter wardrobe. And why not stock up now for just $2 apiece? Old Navy is having a $2 "secret sale" on camis July 29-31. Print the coupon, or just go in and say "CAMI 4 ME" if that's the kind of thing you don't mind saying.

In-store only, so get your camis while it's hot!

Pill Glide Swallowing Spray, free w/rebate.

I can't say I've ever heard of this product before, and it's kind of bizarre... a throat spray, if I understand correctly, that you take before swallowing pills to help them slide smoothly down like it was Wild Waves in your esophagus. But I suppose if you take a lot of pills every day, or you're trying to convince a stubborn child or old person to take them, this could be a godsend.

Anyway, purchase any Pill Glide Swallowing Spray from 7/21 to 8/20, and you’ll receive a rebate check for the purchase price of Pill Glide (up to $6.99). It comes in exciting flavors like strawberry, grape, and bubble gum, so it might actually counteract that "pill taste," too. Hmm, the more I think about this, the more it's seeming like a good idea...

Borders: 33% off one item.

That's right, 33% off the item of your choice, now through July 29. What would we do without Borders saving us all this money? Oh, right - we'd just order from Amazon.

Seattle: 1-year Zipcar membership + $50 driving credit = $35.

Ugh! This was a much longer post and then Blogger ate it, so now you get the condensed bullet-point version:
  • Zipcar is a car-sharing rental service where you pay an annual membership fee and then a per-hour or per-day rate to rent a variety of cars, trucks, and SUVs (insurance and gas included).
  • Membership normally costs $50/year, + $25 signup fee, but with this deal you get the one-year membership PLUS $50 in car rental credit for just $35!
  • Groupon is a daily deal website where they offer a new, discounted deal every day, and when enough people want to buy it, the deal activates and everybody can pile on. They have deals from restaurants, spas, outdoor activities, movie theaters, and more, so you should really sign up just to see what the daily deal is (I get no kickbacks from Groupon for saying this, I just believe in them!).

Whew, that went a lot faster. Let's hope it works this time.

Free sample of Dove Damage Therapy Daily Moisture 'poo and conditioner.

Dove wants to offer you a free sample of its Damage Therapy Daily Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner, by way of Costco's website. And you don't even need to be a Costco member for this one!

I love these little guys for travel, especially overnight trips where you can just throw the single-use foil packets into your toiletry bag and not have to worry about bringing them back. And I do straighten my hair (though not with a clothes iron), so maybe I need this...

Office Max: 100% store credit rebate when you buy up to 2 backpacks.

Now Office Max is jumping on the excessively-complicated-backpack-rebate bandwagon, too - and you can do the offer for up to 2 backpacks, if you want to make it even harder on yourself. No gift cards for this one, though - you have to already be enrolled in their MaxPerks rewards program.
  1. Purchase up to 2 backpacks and earn the purchase price back in Bonus Rewards (to be spent at Office Max).
  2. Rewards earned for the backpack offer will available in a member’s account in September; Bonus Reward for MaxPerks Rewards for Teachers members will be available in October.
  3. All other Bonus Rewards will be available in a member’s next statement. MaxPerks enrollment required.

Offer is good through July 31, if you're willing to put the work in on this one.

Free pack of Hot Tamales.

Hey, winner, you've won a free pack of Hot Tamales! Well, technically you won something called a "Wheel of Fire," which entitles you to some free Hot Tamales, but same difference.

Follow the cool sunglasses-wearing fireball and fill out the form to get yours!

Amazon: $5 subscriptions to Elle and Woman's Day.

Ladies, who wants to pay more than $5 for a magazine subscription, am I right? Well, this week's Amazon sale is for Elle and Woman's Day, each just $5. (Woman's Day appears to be $9.99, but look in the highlighted text box just below the big red price, and you'll see the Special Offer link.)

Actually, I wouldn't say I have strong feelings for either of those publications... but I sure do like the ELLE brand clothes and accessories at Kohl's, which makes them A-OK in my book. I'm sure none of Elle's writers or editors would ever be caught dead in a Kohl's, but it still makes me feel good about my discount handbags.

Borders: 40% off one item.

It's your weekend Borders coupon for 40% off any item... go nuts!

I'm still trying to work my way through a stack of magazines, so I think I'd better haul them to the lake and not come home until I'm done. That will teach me a lesson.

Free sample of Gano Excel super-coffee.

I don't know what's so great about this coffee, and the people of Gano Excel are being rather coy, but when you start throwing around phrases like "The Evolution of Coffee" and "the Enriched Difference of our products," you're gonna have to back that up.

Get your free samples here - it sounds like they'll be sending multiple flavors, the better to evolve your coffee.

Seattle: Free ice cream July 25 at Scoop Fest.

I can't say I've heard of Scoop Fest before, but if it means free ice cream, then I'm all for it. It's happening from 2-5 p.m. this Sunday, July 25 – Full Tilt will scoop free ice cream for the first 300 comers in the shop's parking lot at 5041 Rainier Ave. S., Seattle. Also, The Femurs, Big Sur, and Shenandoah Davis will play free, live music.

300 isn't a whole lot of people, but if you get there right at 2:00 pm, you can probably get yourself a free cone.

(Courtesy of Seattle Times)

Seattle: Ballard Sidewalk Sale this weekend.

Seattleites, when was the last time you went to Ballard? Maybe you should stop by this weekend, when they'll be having their big downtown sidewalk sale (now through Sunday). While it does make parking even more annoying, it's fun to wander up and down the sidewalk, checking out the sale tables that each store puts out. And this "$20 shoe tub" sounds mighty intriguing...

The last time I went, I picked up a super-soft sweater marked down from $70 to $10, so I promise there are deals to be had. If the weather's nice, make a day of it and have a picnic at the locks, too!

Information: Get your unclaimed WaMu deposits back.

Remember Washington Mutual? If you do, and you had an account, you should take a minute to check the Washington State Department of Revenue's searchable database to see if they have any unclaimed deposits in your name.

"The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) turned the funds over to the state recently, and the Department has mailed claim forms to the last known addresses of anyone with more than $75 in unclaimed deposits. It also has posted on its searchable database the names of businesses and individuals who have at least $25 in unclaimed assets."

It's worth checking on unclaimed property every few years in your state, just in case. What, you don't like free money OR sticking it to the man?

Staples: 100% gift card rebate w/backpack purchase, 7/25-7/31.

I'm sort of torn about this Staples rebate offer. On one hand, it sounds pretty great - buy any backpack and get a 100% rebate! BUT there are some important caveats:
  1. You get the "rebate" as a Staples gift card, not as cash or a prepaid debit card usable anywhere;
  2. Their backpacks are a LOT more expensive than elsewhere.

For example, the classic Jansport Superbreak in black is $49.99 at Staples, but only $24 (with free shipping) at Amazon and $29.99 at eBags. If you go through a lot of office supplies, maybe it's worth it to pay twice as much if you'll eventually get it back in merchandise. But if you just want a good price on a backpack, I'm not sure if this is the offer for you.

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Borders: 40% off one item.

Here it is, the coveted 40% off Borders coupon! Believe it or not, there's actually nothing that I want to get right now, so you'll just have to go ahead and use it for me. I'm feeling a little oppressed by the stack of magazines and library books that piled up while I was out of town last weekend and there is some serious de-backlogging to do before I can even think about buying more books. Sigh.

Seattle: Free Capitol Hill Block Party kickoff concert tonight.

Looking for something to do this evening, Seattleites? Check out the Crocodile's Capitol Hill Block Party kickoff show tonight for free. The lineup includes Holy F!, Obits, and the Unnatural Helpers. Doors open at 8 p.m. Thursday for the 21-and-over party at The Crocodile, at 2200 Second Ave., in Seattle.

Just RSVP here and click on the Capitol Hill Kick Off flyer.

Walmart: Orbit Gum, Weber Spice, Kraft Toasted Chips, Kashi Cereal freebie events.

So Walmart is really doing a ton of these free in-store giveaway promos. In addition to the 11 oz Gain dish soap thing I posted earlier, here are some more events:

I've had good luck with online Walmart samples in the past, so I imagine these will be pretty decent too. If you try it and like it, let us know!

Burt's Bees toothpaste sample is back!

The popular Burt's Bees toothpaste sample offer is back again. You can either choose a 0.5 oz sample tube, or a $1 off coupon if you already know you like it and want to buy a full-size tube. I missed out on this one last time, so if you need some free toothpaste, don't dilly-dally!

Walmart: Free Better Than Ears sample.

What's better than ears? Well, a lot of things, frankly, if we're talking about stuff I want to put in my mouth. But specifically, these Better Than Ears are dog treats designed to curb your dog's addiction to disgusting fatty pig ears.

Sign your dog up for a free sample today! Freebies aren't just for humans.

Walmart: Free 11 oz dish soap samples.

If this isn't a typo, then it's one heck of a free sample... stop by your local participating Walmart from 7/22 to 7/25 to get a free 11 oz. bottle of Gain dish soap. The dates and times vary by location, so make sure to check your local store to see when they'll be handing out free bottles.

Seattleites, here's the info for us:

34520 16th Avenue
South Federal Way, WA 98003
(253) 835-4965

7/25/2010
1:00 PM - 6:00 PM

I usually don't ever shop at Walmart, but I might be willing to walk in, take a free bottle of dish soap, and walk out.

Gifts w/purchase on women's magazines.

Who doesn't love a gift with purchase? I admit, I'm not immune to the appeal of getting a free bonus when I buy something. So right now, when you buy these selected women's magazines from Amazon, you can get free gifts ranging from watches to tote bags to cosmetics kits.

Speaking as someone who pays close attention to Amazon magazine prices, this is a pretty decent rate, though not the absolute rock-bottom lowest price that they ever get. Still, the discounts are fairly steep, and who doesn't need a cute new beach tote? Just saying.

Free Special K protein bar.

Get yourself a free Special K protein bar, plus coupons for discounts on Special K protein bars and shakes. If these are the ones I'm thinking of, they're pretty tasty, so it might be worth signing up to get a free one.

Borders: 33% off one item, 40% off DVDs, 50% off Star Wars items.

Yes, Borders is going for the coupon trifecta this week - not just one lousy coupon, but three! You can get the usual 33% off any item, or 40% off DVDs, or a whopping 50% off Star Wars items, assuming that that's something you want.

Coupons are good through July 22, so choose wisely!

BOGO Orange Julius Tuesdays through Oct. 26.

Now through October 26, Orange Julius is hosting a BOGO promotion on any Julius Drink every Tuesday. No coupon required. But... I guess you'll just have to take my word for it, since there's nothing about it on their Facebook page.

You can also print the coupon on their FB page to get any 20 oz. drink, any time, for $2.99. But seeing as today is Tuesday, wouldn't you rather grab your BFF and go the mall to drink Orange Julii and buy cassette tapes at Sam Goody?

Free summer playlist from SPIN magazine.

The theme of the week is free summer music, it seems, and SPIN is the latest contender. Download 15 tracks from their August issue for free here, via iTunes (iTunes is also free to download if you don't have it).

I'm not really hip enough to know who these bands are, but I'm seeing exciting words like "tiger," "impala," "eagles," and "jackal," so it seems pretty clear that this will be an animal-themed mix. Take it to the zoo!

Monday, July 19, 2010

Free Starbucks Frappucino Music Mix.

No, you don't have to like coffee or even Frappucinos to enjoy this freebie... Starbucks has put together a free summer playlist of music "to complement your Frappuccino beverage. Featuring electrifying summertime favorites ranging from Frightened Rabbit to Hot Chip, your free Frappuccino Beverage Music Mix is available to download on iTunes now!"

Download the playlist for free on iTunes (if you don't have it already, iTunes is free) and prepare to chill out with your new tunes and the cool beverage of your choice.

Borders: 33% off one item.

Sheesh, sometimes I think this might as well be www.borderscoupons.com, since that's all I ever seem to post. Well, that and meat-related freebies, I guess.

Anyway. 33% off at Borders for your weekend pleasure.

Seattle: Free roast pig potluck tonight in Chinatown.

Here is one of the stranger free events I've seen in my time at the HTN: an overnight pig roast in Chinatown.

"The feast starts at 8 p.m. Friday and goes overnight until 2 p.m. Saturday. Bring some food and drinks to share. A local and sustainably raised pig will be roasting overnight."

I'm a little bummed that I won't be able to make this, because it actually sounds pretty interesting. But it does save me the trouble of trying to figure out what sort of side dish goes with park-roasted pig. Jello salad? Deviled eggs? S'mores?

Seattle: Free steak at the Twilight Exit if you close your Chase account.

Seattleites, this one is half-freebie, half-news-of-the-weird: the owner of the Twilight Exit has declared a personal revenge quest against Chase after months of fighting with them over a loan, and is therefore offering a free steak dinner to anyone who has a Chase account and closes it.

The only other thing I know about the Twilight Exit is that you can get chicken-fried bacon there, so if you ask really nicely, maybe the owner will let you convert your steak dinner to a platter of batter-fried bacon with a gravy side.

Thursday, July 15, 2010

Borders: 25% off most items.

Borders is having a Friends and Family sale event, which gets you 25% off most items in your order, in-store or online, July 16-19. Check the fine print before you go, but if you've got an ambitious summer reading list, this might be a good time to stock up.

Free American Apparel bikini bra.

If you scored a free American Apparel thong a while back, now's your chance to complete the set with a free American Apparel bikini bra. Sign up for their e-newsletter (if you already signed up for the thong, use a different email address this time) and, if it works the same as last time, they'll send a confirmation email in which you can choose your size.

American Apparel doesn't tend to have anything in the chesty region that, um, fits me, so I may not bother with this one, but if it works for you, let us know in the comments!

Wednesday, July 14, 2010

Free sample of Origins Mega Mushroom Face Serum.

The name of this product kind of flummoxes me, I must admit. "Mega Mushroom" sounds more like something I'd put on a pizza than put on my face... unless my face looked like a pizza of acne and redness, I guess. That's probably not where they intended to go with this, though.

Free sample of Origins Mega Mushroom Face Serum for you!

Borders: Free coffee when you download their e-reader app.

Well, Borders is taking a page from Barnes & Noble for once, adopting their bizarro "download our e-reader and show it to the cafe barista for a free coffee" promotion.

The app is free, and you can always delete it afterward, and Borders has free wi-fi in its stores, so I guess if you're in there browsing with your 33% off coupon and you get a hankering for coffee, you could quickly download the app and wield it for your free cup. Shrug.

Borders: 33% off one item.

You know, all these 33% off Borders coupons have really spoiled me... I don't think it would ever occur to me to pay full list price anymore. Which is why I don't understand why people go to Barnes & Noble anymore, ever.

Borders: join free rewards program, get 25% to 40% coupons constantly, earn gift cards

Barnes & Noble: pay annual fee to save a lousy 10% off purchases

????

Hearst magazines on sale for $7.

Hearst is having a one-day-only sale on a bunch of their magazines, all for $6.99 per subscription (but watch out, because some of the subscriptions aren't a full year.) Titles include:
  • Country Living
  • Elle
  • Esquire
  • Harper's BAZAAR
  • Marie Claire
  • Popular Mechanics
  • Popular Science
  • Seventeen

And a bunch more, all of which would make excellent summer reading to throw into your beach bag or carry-on.

Monday, July 12, 2010

Borders: 40% off one item.

If you like Borders,
Place your orders!
40% off
For "Hoarders" or Mordors.

OK, I know that was terrible, but I've got to keep myself entertained through all these repeating coupon posts or I'll really get bored-ers. Thank you! I'll be here all week.

Free Barnes & Noble Cafe coffee when you show an e-book.

Barnes & Noble has been offering some fairly kooky coupons lately, and this one's no exception: get a free brewed hot or iced coffee when you show them the e-book you're reading, using the BN e-reader app, on your smart gadget device. So first you have to download the (free) BN e-reader app, then you have to download some free public-domain book to it, and then you take that to the unimpressed barista who has never heard of this promotion.

It sounds rather complicated to me, but then, I don't know how badly you want a free coffee.

Neutrogena Clinical, free w/rebate.

Here's a pretty solid value for rebate lovers: get a mail-in rebate for the full purchase price of a Neutrogena Clinical product, up to $40, when you purchase before 7/31/10. Sure, you have to wait 6-8 weeks to get your rebate check (which is standard), but getting your full purchase price back on an item that costs up to $40 is a pretty amazing score!

I'm not familiar with Neutrogena Clinical, but it sounds very scientific, and science isn't cheap. Except when it's free, which is between now and July 31, so get going!

Facebook: Free sample pack of Dentyne Pure.

Here's a novelty: a Facebook freebie where you don't have to "like" anything to get your free stuff. Just go to Dentyne's Facebook page, and click through on the "get a free sample" bar to register for your free sample of Dentyne Pure.

In case you're a confirmation-email kind of person, you should note that some spam filters are sending the confirmation to spam folders, so keep your eyes peeled if you want to make sure your sample is on its way.

Sanford Mr. Sketch Washable Watercolor Markers, free w/rebate.

Remember those scented Mr. Sketch markers from when we were kids? I was never allowed to have any, but I loooooved playing with them at school and we all fought over who got the best scents/colors. Anyway, you can get a set of 12 for free from Office Depot with a mail-in rebate. I guess you're paying sales tax, but that's worth it, right?
  1. Buy markers in-store or online from Office Depot for $7.99 between 7/11/10 - 7/17/10.
  2. Mail in the order form before 8/7/10.
  3. You'll receive a prepaid Visa rebate card for $7.99 in the mail.
  4. Once you've used it for whatever, recycle that plastic card via Earthworks!
My nine-year-old self would be soooo envious right now.

Amazon: This Old House subscription for $5.

Amazon's magazine deal of the week is This Old House - $5 for a one-year subscription. I've never really checked this magazine out, and it's probably not for me anyway, since I don't have a house... but if you like drooling over renovation projects and learn about landscaping, this might be a deal for you.

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Borders: 33% off one item.

Aaaaaaand a 33% off Borders coupon, just to finish off the day.

Free magazine subscription through US Airways miles.

US Airways is offering an interesting reward on their miles program... when you join through July 31 using promo code NM15, they'll instantly give you enough Dividend Miles to cash in on your choice of magazine subscriptions. You can see the prize options here, once you sign up and validate your email.

Some good subscriptions include Entertainment Weekly, W Magazine, and Details, but it will take about 48 hours to post the miles to your account, so hang in there and be patient.

Free Papermate pen when you upload your pen pic.

Want a free Papermate pen? Just befriend Papermate on Facebook, upload a pic of yourself holding a Papermate pen to their Facebook page, and you get one of four styles: Gel, Design, Silhouette, and Biodegradable. There are a few hoops to jump through, but it looks like it was pretty straightforward, and they send you your free pen in the mail.

I'm hoping I get the Biodegradable one because I'm eco-friendly like that, but I guess it's the luck of the draw. Well, free is free, and I do love pens...

Free food at Chik-Fil-A Cow Appreciation Day.

Chik-fil-A's Cow Appreciation Day is back! Dress as a cow and get free food - the more convincingly you dress, the more free food you shall receive. If you're a cow from head to hoof, receive a Free Combo Meal; if you're sporting a partial cow look, get a Free Entree.

I don't think we have any of these in Seattle, but maybe I'll just dress like a cow anyway for the hell of it.

Tuesday, July 6, 2010

Free Slurpee at 7-11 on 7/11.

Do you get it? No, but seriously, do you get it? On July 11, aka 7/11, you can get a free Slurpee at any participating 7-11 convenience store. The free fun starts at 8:00 am and goes till 11:00 pm, although the mere thought of a Slurpee first thing in the morning makes my spine crawl.

Anyway, mark your calendars with a big smear of nacho cheese.

Entertainment Books are just $7.99!

Wow, the 2010 Entertainment Book is just $7.99 now! That's the best price I've seen all year and quite a deal - even if you just use it once for a BOGO admission, you're way ahead of the game. I ordered a backup one recently myself and am already putting it to use, and you'll still have all summer to enjoy museums, zoos, restaurants, cafes, store discounts, and more.

This price is only good this week, so strike now if you want one!

Borders: 33% off one item.

Hey everyone, hope you had a festive 4th of July! Today is my birthday, so I think I'll be taking the day off from freebie posting, but I couldn't resist throwing you a little Borders coupon for 33% off. It starts today and goes through July 8, so I'm choosing to believe that they're doing it in honor of my special day.

I'll be in and out this week as b-day festivities continue, but I hope you had a patriotic, BBQ-filled holiday weekend...

KEXP contest: Free trip to Austin City Limits.

I don't normally post contests on the HTN, but this one is both Seattle-based (though open to all U.S. residents) and pretty cool, so I'm making an exception. Seattle's KEXP, 90.3 FM, is offering a trip to Austin City Limits this October! The package includes round-trip airfare, lodging, and 3-day event passes for two adults, and there are some great bands performing this year.

You can enter by sending one standard-size postcard per household, with your name, address, email address, and both day and evening telephone numbers, to:

KEXP Austin City Limits Flyaway
113 Dexter Ave. N
Seattle, WA 98109

Good luck!

Free wi-fi for all at Starbucks, starting today!

Just a reminder that Starbucks is finally offering free wi-fi at all its locations (well, U.S. locations, anyway). Apparently the first day of service wasn't without some bugs, but that's to be expected.

Along with the brand-new iced VIA packets, this is giving me tons of reasons to loiter around Starbucks...

Seattle: Free Strawberry 66 or Red White & Blue cupcake w/drink purchase at Cupcake Royale.

Cupcake Royale is getting in on the 4th of July fun with a free-cupcake coupon for this weekend, July 3-4. Choose from either their Strawberry 66 flavor or the patriotic Red White & Blue Velvet cupcake, free with the purchase of any drink!

I'll have you know that I was already planning on making red-white-and-blue cupcakes this weekend anyway (red velvet, cream cheese frosting, blue sprinkles), but I have an inkling that Cupcake Royale's cakes might be a leetle better than my boxed-mix and canned-frosting version, so I might take advantage of this coupon myself.

Happy 4th!

Old Navy: $1 flip-flops Sat., July 3.

Dang it! Every time Old Navy offers this $1 flip-flops special, it's a one-day-only thing and I have somewhere else to be. And it'll happen again this Saturday, July 3, when all flip-flops are just a buck each. You have to print the coupon, so make sure to take it with you, and there's a limit of 5 pairs per customer, so grab some friends if you really want to stock up. FOR FREEDOM!

Free sample of Womanity fragrance.

Some thoughts on this freebie:
  1. I really hate the name "Womanity," a lot.
  2. A "sweet and savory" fragrance? That makes me think of, you know, maple bacon donuts, or sweet 'n' sour pork, neither of which I particularly want to smell like.
Nevertheless, if you want to embrace your sweet and savory womanity, try a free sample.

Borders: 33% off one item for 4th of July.

It's (almost) the 4th of July! Celebrate the US of A the thrifty way - by saving 33% off the item of your choice at Borders. This coupon is valid through July 4, so there's plenty of time to pick up some emergency reading before you head off to that dullsville family reunion or rained-out picnic. Hey, I don't mean to be pessimistic, I just think it's good to be prepared (and it's good to have an excuse to buy a book).

Reminder: Free Tully's coffee on 4th of July weekend.

I'm doing this reminder a day early, because the river of free coffee starts flowing at 7:00 am, and no way will you or I be checking this blog that early.

Tully's wants to give you free coffee over the 4th of July holiday weekend! Namely, free drip coffee on Friday, July 2, from 7:00 to 10:00 am, and BOGO "barista beverages" all weekend from July 2-5.

Find a location near you so you can sleepwalk there tomorrow morning for your free coffee.
